Additional Safety Information
If your Television is over about 30 inches wide extra measures are required to insure stability. Failure to do so could result in property damage or personal injury.
The TV swivels sold on this site are designed to sit on the flat surface of a sturdy, substantial piece of furniture whose base and top are at least as large as the Television which will sit on it. The swivels bearings are 12" in diameter and serve as the base of the TV swivel. (see photo below) If your TV is 30 inches wide or more this could result in an unstable condition which could cause the TV to fall if bumped especially when the TV is swiveled to extreme positions. If the entire television will be completely over the furniture even when swiveled to the extreme positions then no further measures are necessary. However, with most installations the end of the TV and/or TV swivel will be off of the furniture when swiveled more than a few degrees. In this case one of the following options should be employed.
1. The TV swivel should be attached with screws to the furniture. If you choose this option please order a swivel with a 3/4 inch access hole drilled in the wood platform. This gives access to the four holes in the bottom race of the swivel bearings through which four included attachment screws can be easily driven into the furniture top. The hole should be hidden when the TV or components are put in place on the swivel.
2. In instances where drilling into the furniture is not desirable please order a swivel with an extra base. This is a platform of the same material and finish as the top piece (and usually the same size) attached to the bottom of the swivel bearings. There will be stops which limit the swivel rotation. These stops should not be removed unless a qualified installer attaches the base to the furniture or some other measure of preventing the TV from falling is employed such as securing the TV to the wall with cables.
